ROI Calculator
Work out your return on investment, your net profit and the annualized return from the amount you put in and what it is worth now.
How the ROI calculator works
Return on investment compares what you gained with what you spent. Enter the amount invested, the final value and how many years you held it. The calculator gives the simple ROI, the net profit and the annualized return, which lets you compare investments held for different lengths of time.
The formulas
Example: Invest $10,000 and it grows to $14,500 in 3 years. Your ROI is 45%, your net profit is $4,500.00 and your annualized ROI is 13.19%.
ROI does not include taxes, fees or inflation unless you subtract them from the final value first. For business projects, subtract all costs from the revenue before you enter the final value.

Frequently asked questions
How do you calculate ROI?
Subtract the amount invested from the final value, divide by the amount invested and multiply by 100.
What is a good ROI?
It depends on the risk and time. Stock market returns have averaged roughly 7 to 10 percent a year over long periods, but there are no guarantees.
What is the difference between ROI and annualized ROI?
ROI is the total return over the whole period. Annualized ROI converts it into a yearly rate so you can compare different time periods.
Can ROI be negative?
Yes. If the final value is lower than the amount invested, the ROI is negative, meaning a loss.
Does ROI include fees and taxes?
Only if you include them. Subtract fees and taxes from the final value before using the calculator.
