Price Per Square Foot Calculator

Divide price by size to compare homes. A $450,000 home of 2,000 sq ft is $225.00 per sq ft.

How to calculate price per square foot

Price per square foot = total price / total square feet. For $450,000 and 2,000 sq ft that is $225.00. The comparison home at $425,000 and 1,900 sq ft is $223.68.

Using it well

  • Compare homes in the same area and similar condition.
  • Use the same measure for size. Do not mix finished area and gross area.
  • Garages, basements and unfinished areas often are not counted or valued differently.
  • Smaller homes usually cost more per square foot than larger ones.

It also works for rent, commercial space and renovation costs. For measuring spaces use the square feet calculator, and for loan planning the down payment calculator.
